Our immune system is a complex network of specialised organs, gland and cells, which, when working properly, protect us and provide us with the ability to ward off foreign invaders and thus maintain good health.
Immunity by definition is a homeostatic condition in which the body maintains full protection and defences.
It is a series of balanced, complex, multi-cellular and physiological mechanisms that allow and individual to distinguish foreign material from "self" and to neutralise and/or eliminate foreign matter.
The immune system can be affected and weakened in many ways. Factors such as diet, stress, drugs, environmental toxins and harsh but necessary medical intervention are just some of the ways our immune system may be weakened.
